Obituary Notice of Mr. Velupillai Eeswaranathan

We regret to inform you of the passing of Hartleyite Mr. Velupillai Eeswaranathan (Vice Patron and Past President of HCPPA Canada & USA), who passed away in Toronto, Canada, on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the age of 89.

Beloved husband of Mrs. Vijayarani Eeswaranathan and the loving father of the late Mr. Guruparan Eeswaranathan and Mr. Divaharan Eeswaranathan.

Loving brother of the late Mr. V. Kunanayagam (Hartleyite -- 1931-1941), the late Mrs. Mathurathiviyamani Kanaganathan, and Mr. V. Mahathevan (Hartleyite -- 1947-1956; Pyramid Air Services Ltd., Colombo).

Maternal uncle of Hartleyite Mr. K. Sivamohan (1966 O/L Batch).

Mr. Eeswaranathan was a cherished Hartleyite, respected mentor, and dear friend whose life was marked by excellence, service, and compassion. As a student of Hartley College, he distinguished himself as a Prefect, accomplished sportsman, and outstanding scholar. Throughout his life, he remained deeply committed to the Hartley community and played a pivotal role in strengthening the Hartley College Past Pupils Associations in both Colombo and Canada.

Known for his warm smile, gracious nature, and willingness to help others, he touched the lives of generations of Hartleyites. His leadership, encouragement, and unwavering dedication earned him the admiration and affection of all who knew him. He will be remembered not only for his invaluable contributions to the Association, but also for the kindness, friendship, and inspiration he shared so generously.

His passing is a profound loss to the Hartley family. His legacy of leadership, service, mentorship, and fellowship will continue to inspire Hartleyites for generations to come.
