Dear fellow Hartleyites, Over the past years this web site has provided us a great chance to contact our long lost friends. It is about time we go one step further. There are so many PPAs in UK, Canada, Australia, and Colombo, but Hartleyites are all over the world. Using this web, we should launch a major project to help the students back at Hartley right now. Rebuilding our library can be a start!, sothat Hartleyites from all over the world can participate in the project. I'm not saying that all PPAs mentioned above are really doing what they are capable of doing. for eg, there are 168 entries in the database are from uk, but how many of them are really members of HCPPA, UK??? The answer is simple, it is NOT the generation GAP as some people might say. But the people who have the PPA in their hands still think of Hartley as it was before 1980. That is one of the primary reason they were having the Annual dinner (excluding the last one) in five star hotels! I'll skip the Annual dinner and instead donate the money to a charity. Varathan

Dear Hartleyites It is very sorrow to write that, how we all paid our last reapect to one of our teachers. Most of us may not be aware on sad news that, our former principal Mr. Nadarajah (Nadarajah master) has passed away in Colombo on 30th of September 2000. Funeral took place at Borella cemetry on Sunday, 1st October. On behalf of Hartley, no. of people attend the funeral was a few and it seems the Colombo OBA also was not interested on attending this sort of events. As we all know Nadarajah master was in Hartley for decades and most of the Hartleyites were taught by him in the A Levels either in Maths/Bio classes or in Commerce classes. Some of us may resonout our inablity to pay the last respect, would be 'We didn't know' or 'Short notice' of funeral arrangements. What was all the OBA VIPs did? They never forget to arrange annual parties, in star hotels with expensive budjet, even in the very hard times of our college and community. At least a news paper advericement..!!! Is it expensive for all these VIPs? Or is Nadarajah master is a categeory to be treated somewhat different from other principals..? Hope all the Hartleyites will look into this matter and try to make arrangements to avoid chances to making the same mistake again.. Thanks A Hatleyite..

PPA should allow & support the past pupil to organise branches or group in every town [ such as on in Harrow, one in Tooting and one in East Ham]. This should be not connected to any isseus and the number of available pupils in that area. These branches and the members should be allowed to conduct the affairs of their branch within their membership and the available finance. This [ each & every ] barnch should send one of its 'rep' to the mother organisation of the country. The 'forum' organisd in the above manner will fuction as the hardcore committee of the particular Country who will then elect all the members of the PPA of the UK. This method costs less to all the people and will np doubt create and increase the efficiency of the PPA. Please e-mail me of how far the admin body has taken this seriously.

I am very pleased to see this website for my College. Thank you all who contributed to make this happen. I am from Thumpalai, Point Pedro and I got a job and came to Saudi Arabia last year. I was in the College from 1985 to 1992, a very critical time. I was Asst.Troop Leader in College Scouts in 1991 & 1992. I shall be more than happy to contribute in any way I could to improve the condition of our College. The current situation over there really impedes the development of our College. I hope and pray for the situation to change soon.

Several of the members in the database have confused their first names and their last names. It is better for you to change the first name as father's name and last name as your name so that they are not confused. This is because Tamil surnames are also the given names.
